About
ABOUT...
Carolyn Flood’s calling as a musician is directly intertwined with her heritage. From being enrolled in Saint Louis Irish Arts since the age of just 3 years old, she went from playing jigs on the fiddle-to composing her own Celtic music on the harp. Since beginning her training on the harp at 6, she went on to study in Ireland and London, Lexington to Nashville-finally landing in Bloomington Indiana. Through out that time she explored many genres-from winning first place in Groupai Cheol in Clonmel, Ireland, playing guitar and singing in a duo Down from the Summit, playing fiddle for the Lonesome Drifters, crooning 1940’s standards for Those Lazy Cabineers, opening up for Rock-a-billy Queen Wanda Jackson in Saint Louis, as well as recording a self-titled EP in Nashville, TN. After earning a degree in Classical Harp from Belmont University, she swiftly began gigging in various bands with her bright red electric harp--determined to shatter the common stereotypes associated with her primary instrument. Hooking it up to her amp-she resounded to push the boundaries and was featured on tracks by hip-hop artist Jung Youth, and folk-rock tracks of Apache Relay. Carolyn’s identity as a musician is molded by her desire to collaborate with artists of all genres-her favorite place to be is in a studio. Her current projects include her newly released holiday album, an original Celtic music, and a meditative harp album to be released in Spring 2020.
In addition, she is currently composing a musical with her father, and working towards a masters degree in music therapy with certification in vibro-acoustic harp therapy.
